I want to downgrade my account, but I am having trouble abandoning my land.
In order to downgrade your account from a Premium or Premium Plus membership to Basic membership, you will need to make sure to abandon any land you own including, Linden Home, leases, or group donated land.
- Log into the official Second Life viewer.
- Be sure you are located on your parcel.
- In the World menu, open About Land.
- In the General tab, please click Abandon Land.
You may also wish to check your group land contributions and make arrangements to keep your group's land holdings in good standing. |
Downgrading your account
Once you have abandoned the land, you can follow these steps to continue the downgrade process:
- Log into the Second Life website.
- On the lef side of the screen, select Account.
- In the menu that drops down, select Change Membership.
- The Choose Your Membership Plan screen opens, displaying a chart of Membership plans and prices, including your current plan and it's price.
- To the right of Choose your membership plan, click the Downgrade to Basic membership link.
- Review the changes to your plan and select Continue to checkout.
- You will be redirected to a survey regarding your premium membership experience.
On your next billing date, your account will be downgraded to a Basic membership.
If you downgrade to a basic account, you will no longer have access to your weekly Linden dollar stipend or live support options. | |
If you are a member of more than 42 groups, you will not lose any group memberships when you downgrade. However, you may not join any new groups with a basic account until you reduce your group memberships to fewer than 42. |
If you still are still experiencing trouble downgrading your account, please submit a support ticket of the type Account and choose Other Billing Issues from the second drop down option.
