I am having a problem with my landlord and would like a refund for the rent I paid to them.

We are truly sorry to hear about any negative experiences our Residents may have with their landlords. It is a stressful and unpleasant situation, to be sure.

The Second Life economy functions on connections between business operators and customers. Much as the Internet allows customers to find the products they want, Second Life and the Second Life service helps creators to share their products and services with those who wish to purchase them. As a result, the rental agreement between the landlord and the customer is a personal one -- direct and without a middleman. When you make a rental agreement in Second Life, you as a customer create an agreement with the person from whom you're renting, and this agreement is solely between the two parties (landlord and tenant). While you may have a valid agreement with another person, Linden Lab is not a party to the agreement and cannot resolve your dispute. 

As a service platform, Second Life and Linden Lab does not act as an arbiter or enforcer of private rental agreements or any other transaction between Residents.
