Images Failing to Load on the Second Life Marketplace (October 2021)

Problems with Images Loading on the Second Life Marketplace

As of early October 2021, some Residents may find that images on the Second Life Marketplace are not loading correctly. We've determined that this problem is related to the expiration of Let's Encrypt certificates, something which caused problems for some scripts within Second Life earlier this month.

Because of the nature of the problem with the expired certificates, certain machines running older versions of their operating systems or older browsers may find that the updates we've pushed to resolve the certificate issue aren't working.

If you're having difficulty with the Second Life Marketplace loading images, please try the following steps:

  • Please update your computer's operating system to the most recent version currently available. Not only is this helpful for resolving the Marketplace problem, it will greatly increase your system's security.
  • If you continue to have issues after you've updated your operating system, please also make sure that your web browser is fully up to date.
  • If after updating both your operating system and your browser you're still having issues, please contact our Support team for further assistance.
